BLACK CRY By Chibuzo Emelogu

BLACK CRY By Chibuzo Emelogu

Performance Poetry

Every night i carry in my chest,

pain so sharp that release my tears.

Why do i have to carry this crest?

If Black is beautiful why awaken my fears?

Sing me a lullaby.

I want to walk on the clouds of sweet dreams.

Sing me not a Lulla-Bye.

cast me not to deep sorrow and wild screams.

Give me bread, don’t give me stones.

Give me hope, don’t give me a pope.

Awaken my dying dry bones,

And release me from the thick Red rope.
